American Impressionists
American Impressionist painters were active in America from the 1890s through the 1910s. The movement was comprised of many world renowned artists, many of which formed small art colonies across the country, such as Cos Cob in Greenwich, Connecticut and Pennsylvania Impressionism in New Hope, Pennsylvania (and surrounding areas). Their vibrant use of color and bold brushwork was directly influenced by European Impressionism, but featured American life and landscapes.
